Tamarack Builders was founded when a team of builders lost their friend and leader, Kelly Hailey, in a tragic accident. Kelly was an extraordinarily talented craftsman and a beacon of positivity.  His legacy continues today in the form of Tamarack Builders, founded in his memory by his two lead project managers, Andrew Marchetti and Cal Egan. Building on this founding legacy, Andrew, Cal and their team embrace projects demanding the finest craftsmanship, while adding their own passion for high performance and sustainable building practices.

Tamarack Builders is a network of highly skilled craftspeople who approach every project with dedication. We appreciate a challenge and are committed to constantly improving our craft. Our crew of hard-working carpenters and in-house cabinet shop are adept at building to a modern, high performance standard as well as matching and recreating historic finish details. 

  • Andrew Marchetti

    OWNER

    Andrew grew up in Camden, Maine. His father had a shop and taught him how to use woodworking tools at a young age. After Andrew graduated high school, he moved to Montana and began building log homes. Later, he moved to the Pacific northwest and worked as lead carpenter on custom residential and light commercial crews. Andrew returned to Maine, falling back in love with the area and meeting his partner, Meredith, with whom he has an adorable daughter, a source of constant entertainment. An avid angler, musician, and outdoorsman, Andrew spends his spare time exploring the coast with his family and friends.

  • Cal Egan

    OWNER

    Cal grew up in Albany, New York, and the Berkshires. After studying American History at McGill University, he worked as a chef in New York City and California. Cal moved to Maine where he met his wife, Katie, and spent time timber framing before putting down roots and starting his family. He loves to work with his hands and enjoys the physical and mental challenges of building. Cal and Katie are having fun building their own high-performance, low-carbon home, love being on the water, eating a good meal, and chasing after their young children.
